Veneers 101

Veneers are tooth-colored caps that can be placed over the front of teeth to instantly enhance their appearance in terms of size, shape, and color. In some cases, a patient may only have one or two teeth that are misshapen, discolored, or otherwise do not match their nearby teeth. Sometimes dental crowns can be used to cover these teeth and restore their appearance. However, veneers are durable restorations that offer many options in terms of customization. It’s also common for veneers to be placed on all of the front teeth that show when a patient smiles to provide them with a complete smile makeover. Whether you want beautiful, natural-looking teeth or a flawless, Hollywood smile, our team can help.

Veneer Consultation

Consultations are the first step in the veneer process, and they are crucial for ensuring that you and our team are on the same page. During your consultation, we’ll help you determine what your dream smile looks like and make it a reality for you. We will review your oral health history, budget, preferences, and smile goals. The consultation is also a perfect opportunity for you to ask our team any questions you may have. Before moving forward, we will address all of your concerns.

Prepping the Teeth

Next, the teeth must be prepped before veneers can be placed. This involves using a local anesthetic to numb the teeth and gums. Then we remove a small amount of enamel from the front of the teeth. Once this is complete, we will take impressions of your teeth and use them to design your permanent veneers.

Your Custom Veneers

In the meantime, temporary veneers will be placed over your teeth to protect them while your custom veneers are being created. These veneers will not look exactly like your permanent veneers, but they will still look natural. During this time, your teeth may feel a little sensitive, so we recommend using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and avoiding biting into cold foods like ice cream. Once your permanent veneers are ready, a final appointment will be scheduled to remove your temporary veneers and place your new, custom veneers. We will make any final adjustments necessary to ensure that your new veneers look and feel fantastic. Then, you’re free to show off your new smile!
