Periodontitis, the more advanced stage of gum disease, is largely preventable with good oral hygiene and routine dental visits. Though preventable, periodontal disease remains a common infection among patients. In some cases, laser gum therapy may be suggested.

What Is Laser Gum Therapy?

Laser gum therapy has recently emerged as an option for treating moderate to severe gum disease. With laser gum therapy, Dr. Oushy uses a laser to remove the damaged gum tissue around the tooth’s root. Laser gum therapy is less invasive than other treatments and allows for faster healing. It often works best with another periodontal treatment. Our team will do all we can to restore your gum health.

Benefits of Laser Gum Therapy

Laser therapy has several advantages when treating gum disease.

  • Less Invasive Treatment
  • Improved Smile
  • Precise & Accurate Treatment
  • Less Bleeding, Pain, and Swelling
  • Faster Treatment

Post Laser Gum Therapy Care

After your gum disease treatment is complete, the healing process will immediately begin. You can likely expect soreness, change in color of the gum tissue and swelling. Our team will provide care instructions on how to manage these side effects. Part of post-op care includes eating soft, nutritious foods, avoiding warm temperature food or drinks, and maintaining good oral hygiene. The length of time to heal will depend on the severity of your gum disease but can take anywhere from several weeks to a month.
